Swamp Tour
My mom wanted to do something interesting while my sister and I visited.
After listing a few options, we all collectively decided to go on a swamp tour through
Cajun Encounters Tour Company.
It's basically a trip out onto the bayou to see some wildlife.
We had an eccentric tour guide who made the trip just that much more fun.

Some black-bellied whistling-ducks (left) at the waiting area for the tour, Fish tank (right).

One of many observed domiciles built alongside the bayou.

Here was the first sight of a few gators we saw on the tour.
Many were comfortable enough to approach the boat without any provocation.
According to the tour guide, sometimes people throw off marshmallows to the alligators.
The fact that they are white and float to the top of the water
(like dead organic material can be) makes them naturally attracted to the marshmallows,
and then they just love eating them because they are made out of basically pure sugar.

A bit of flora. The lilypads are Bull Head Water Lillies,
and they have some yellow flowers on long stems growing from some of them.

iSpy with my little eye - a few wild boar.

Here is a photo of a dead fish that we witnessed
being dragged across the surface of the water over some distance.
Soon after, a submerged alligator briefly revealed itself.
Sadly the gator lost its meal after revealing itself, and we saw the dead fish flow slowly down the stream.

There were also some wild raccoons living in the swamp!

Here's a few more raccoons hidden behind the trees.

This is definitely the biggest gator we saw on the trip.

Final piece of wildlife from the swamp tour: a red-bellied woodpecker in the trees
